What you need to know in Google Search

0 comments
There are a lot of things that Google can do. Like if you are a student, you probably have difficulties in solving your Physics subject or if you are working on a company that uses time as a resource, or maybe working on a finance department that needs currency conversion, or a traveler that needs information about countries, places, streets, and etc., then all you need is Google Search. Let me share this with you on how I use Google search to its maximum level.

As a Scientific Calculator
By using Google search as calculator, keywords are very simple as +, -, *, /, %, and ^. May it be simple or advanced calculations, Google provides the appropriate keywords.

Adobe Flash is Now Part of Google Chrome

0 comments
Google officially announced that all downloads of Google Chrome will now include Adobe Flash as part of the plugin. They also added that Chrome users will experience a hassle-free in terms of updating the version of the plugin. Users will have automatic updates without  separate download.

Google goes on to say that “improving the traditional browser plug-in model will make it possible for plug-ins to be just as fast, stable, and secure as the browser’s HTML and JavaScript engines.”

Google is now taking a one-step ahead of Firefox. What will be Mozilla's answer? Who will win this browser war?

In a Nutshell

in a nutshell

a slang term which means:

to sum up the facts;
to make the long story, brief and short;

In a nutshell, USB 3.0 comprises the following..

I heard a lot about this term in phrases, articles, and in the books. I didn't give too much attention to why the book was named "C# in a nutshell" but not until today. So now, I just finally figured out the last piece of the puzzle.

3. Once it is finished, set the BIOS to boot from the USB device and restart your machine then follow the instructions and don't forget to save the changes.

If all is well, you should be using your Ubuntu 9.10 Desktop (Karmic Koala).

When Pigs Fly

0 comments
I heard this when I read this line:
With sufficient thrust, pigs fly just fine.
So I opened up UrbanDictionary to get the meaning. I thought it was a slang but it isn't. It is a hyperbole telling us that something will never happen for sure. To use it:
Guy 1: Dude, go out her.
Guy 2: Eww... When pigs fly...
It has the same definition as "Hell freezes over" as Wiki says and the most common Cebuano idiom - "Inig puti sa uwak".

Protect your images from HotLinking

0 comments
Have you ever wonder why there is so much bandwidth you have on your invoice from web hosting companies? Then, someone leeched your images for their own personal use. This is what we call hotlinking or leeching. Wikipedia defines this as the use of a linked object, often an image, from one site into a web page belonging to a second site. The second site is said to have an hot linked to the site where the object is located. To stop users from hotlinking, upload an .htaccess file to the root of your site directory and copy this code.

Options +FollowSymlinks
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^$
RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://(www.)?your_domain_name.com/ [nc]
RewriteRule .*.(png|gif|jpg|jpeg)$ http://domainname.com/img/hot_link_image.png [nc]

Take note this will only work on linux servers.
